One of the sweetest couples that I've ever had the pleasure to photograph recently got back in touch with me to let me know that they were having a baby. I photographed their wedding in Boulder back in 2012 up at Sunrise Amphitheater and Flagstaff House. It's incredible how much their lives have changed in such a short amount of time. Alycia had a stint working in Southern California but is now back in Boulder and John is a referee for the NHL and travels a lot during hockey season. And the best change is their new family member they named Kaitlyn. She's a year old now and they wanted to get some updated family photos with their new daughter together. She's just the cutest little girl and her tiny little hands holding onto the apples we found at the South Mesa Trail could not be cuter! Check out their sneak peek below!
Ihave been looking forward to photographing Danielle & Jarred's Sunrise Amphitheater wedding in Boulder for over a year now. When we first met they told me that they were planning for their wedding to be a little bit off the beaten path. They planned to run the whole ceremony themselves at the beautiful Sunrise Amphitheater which looks out over the entire city of Boulder and beyond. They incorporated their closest friends and family by having them do short readings about what creates a good marriage and all built a cairn together. Building a cairn was a great way for these two outdoor enthusiasts to acknowledge their love of hiking and the great outdoors into their wedding ceremony. I also really love that they were able to have their adorable Cavalier King Charles Spaniel decked out in his own doggie tux hang out with them throughout the day:) Before the ceremony began, we drove up Flagstaff Mountain just a little farther to get some photos at the beautiful Lost Gulch Overlook. Danielle and Jarred chose to do a first look and this was a really pretty location for that. After the ceremony we drove to Longmont where the historic D-Barn is located on Main Street. They did a really great job with the DIY decor of their wedding and with the help of their day of wedding coordinator, Amelia Metzger from Alegre Kreations the inside of the barn looked beautiful. I particularly liked their pretty tied ribbon photobooth backdrop. And the pretty cloth napkins all hand-tied for the BBQ dinner was a nice touch too. Overall, it was a lovely day for a sweet and simple wedding celebration for two laid-back people in love.

Alycia & John have the sweetest story of how they came to be a couple. I may have some of the details off, but this is the gist of it. (Alycia & John, please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong:) When they were kids they knew each other because both of their families had property in Lake George, Colorado. So they grew up seeing each other there. When they were teenagers, there was a forest fire that threatened Lake George and both of them came back to help their families evacuate and they noticed each other and started dating. For reasons that I am not aware, after high school they moved on and didn't see each other for awhile. But then Alycia moved back to the area and when John found out he asked her to go see a Broncos game with him. Alycia assumed it would be a nice platonic activity to do together, but discovered that the spark was still there and they've been together ever since. I swear it could be the makings of a Reese Witherspoon rom-com!
They held their intimate wedding ceremony at the Flagstaff Sunrise Amphitheatre in Boulder and finished off the day at the Flagstaff House restaurant where they soaked in the love of their friends and relatives with a stunning view of the Boulder Valley in front of them. What a perfect day!
Alycia & John,
I hope you had some wonderful adventures out in Hawaii! Talk about a romantic place to spend time together. Can't wait to see you again this weekend at the BBQ!
These Lulu Townsend shoes are so pretty!
Isn't that inscription just perfect for them?
In light of Alycia & John's "first" date this is a very fitting garter:)

Alycia & John used the same cake knife that her parents used in 1980. They added their details on the back.
Technology can be so great. John's brother was across the world in Okinawa Japan serving as a Marine and couldn't physically be there. But this was a great way for him to still be there!
Fave for sure!
