elcome to the journal for April O’Hare Photography! Here you’ll find all of my latest photographic outings with the couples, families, seniors and small businesses that I get to work with and make beautiful photographs for. You may also see a personal post here and there discussing my life or my travels with my teeny family of one husband and three cats! Sometimes I even write advice articles with tips to help make your photo experience better which you can check out under the “Educational” category.

Take your time and look around! Type in the place where you’ll be getting married in the search box to see if I’ve photographed there before. At the bottom of the page I’ve highlighted some of my favorite sessions and weddings from the past. Grab a drink and have fun going down the photo rabbit hole!

All-America-Selections Garden Wedding | Denver Botanic Gardens in Colorado

August 19, 2016

Super excited to share this beautiful wedding from Denver Botanic Gardens on the journal today.

I met Erin many years ago when we were both roller derby skaters for Rocky Mountain Rollergirls. She’s since moved on from skating, but she’s an incredibly athletic person and does more running than I could ever dream of doing. She runs so many races and marathons that I can’t even keep track of it. Almost every summer she and her girlfriends spend days in a van taking turns running across the mountains of Colorado. She’s a super hero athlete and also super sweet too which is why I was so happy to hear that she met Aaron. They are such a great match and not just because they basically have the same name;) It’s awesome to see her so comfortable in his arms.

Despite the hot temperatures, their wedding day was absolutely gorgeous. We started off with hair and make up at the Oxford Club Spa & Salon before moving on the the Crawford Hotel suite where Aaron and his buddies got dressed before leaving the room for Erin and her gals to use after. The Cooper Lounge was nice enough to allow us to use their bar space for their first look and a few portraits before heading over to the Denver Botanic Gardens on York Street.

Denver Botanic Gardens has redesigned one of their wedding spaces called the All-America-Selections Garden which is where the ceremony, cocktail hour, and dinner took place. It’s a really nice location with a very modern style overhead covering to keep guests from baking in the heat and nice and open on all sides to enjoy the gardens and the breezes coming through. I particularly liked the water lilies found on the edges of the space. After dinner, the party moved indoors to the Gates Hall and Gates Garden Court where the dancing and merrymaking continued throughout the evening.

Love this one! There should be more twinkle lights in the world:)

This bridesmaid’s reception footwear is on point and a much flashier version of switching into flats:)

Aaron and his cousins have a fun family tradition where they vote on who gets to keep the “Cousin of the Year” award every time they are able to get together.
