elcome to the journal for April O’Hare Photography! Here you’ll find all of my latest photographic outings with the couples, families, seniors and small businesses that I get to work with and make beautiful photographs for. You may also see a personal post here and there discussing my life or my travels with my teeny family of one husband and three cats! Sometimes I even write advice articles with tips to help make your photo experience better which you can check out under the “Educational” category.

Take your time and look around! Type in the place where you’ll be getting married in the search box to see if I’ve photographed there before. At the bottom of the page I’ve highlighted some of my favorite sessions and weddings from the past. Grab a drink and have fun going down the photo rabbit hole!

Colorado High School Senior Photographer | Wild Mustang Sanctuary Farm

April 19, 2016

Faleena, the Colorado high school senior gal featured in the journal today is actually someone I have photographed before. You might recognize her from her family’s snowy winter session at Mount Falcon last November. I am so happy she got in touch with me again to photograph her high school senior photos because she’s a natural in front of the camera and also because I loved her idea for where to go for her session. Faleena is a true country girl. She’s been working at a huge farm outside of Kiowa in Deer Trail, Colorado for over a year and a half called the “Great Escape Mustang Sanctuary.” The organization is an advocate for wild horses and its part of their mission to educate the public about them. Faleena loves her work there and wanted to use the pretty rustic landscape which is full of short scrubby pine trees, a windmill, yucca plants and of course wild horses roaming around on the land. The mustangs out on the range seemed to be camera shy that day but a pretty dark colored horse named Crystal came out to pose in the pictures with Faleena.

Some of the mustangs are able to be broken in but they’re wild and it’s not easy. Faleena is one tough girl. At the end of her photo session she wanted to see if Crystal would be up for a quick ride but she had only been working on it for about a month. Faleena was a total badass and got up there but Crystal just wasn’t having it that evening and she ended up falling pretty hard. I’m happy to report that she is ok now. I’m glad that we were able to photograph her at a place that she knows and loves. Check out the images below!

I think this one might be my favorite. I love all of that green:)
