elcome to the journal for April O’Hare Photography! Here you’ll find all of my latest photographic outings with the couples, families, seniors and small businesses that I get to work with and make beautiful photographs for. You may also see a personal post here and there discussing my life or my travels with my teeny family of one husband and three cats! Sometimes I even write advice articles with tips to help make your photo experience better which you can check out under the “Educational” category.

Take your time and look around! Type in the place where you’ll be getting married in the search box to see if I’ve photographed there before. At the bottom of the page I’ve highlighted some of my favorite sessions and weddings from the past. Grab a drink and have fun going down the photo rabbit hole!

Estes Park Wedding Photographer | Mountainside Lodge at YMCA of the Rockies

July 13, 2015

Man, have I had some cool wedding clients lately. There’s just something about this 2015 season, but everyone I’ve photographed lately has just been super fun people that I would be happy to have as friends. The kind of people where you spend one day with them and you just get why they are so loved by those surrounding them. Dan and Meg in particular were pretty rad and let me describe a couple of little vignettes from their wedding at Mountainside Lodge at YMCA of the Rockies to explain why.

1.) It was their wedding day. A day when it’s pretty much required to pretend to be queen and king with all of the attention on yourself. I mean, you’ve invited people all over the place to come witness and celebrate your love for each other right? No big deal, everyone expects that at a wedding. But no one expects that the bride and groom are going to be ready to recognize the fact that three of their guests all had birthdays on this same day. But they did! Meg and Dan put forth the effort to have a special birthday cake with candles for these three guests to blow out on their birthday. Call me a sap, but I just think that is the sweetest.

2.) Lip sync off. Yes, you heard me. Dan and Meg had a lip sync off, Jimmy Fallon-style. Needless to say it was complete pandemonium when this happened. There was also no obvious winner. They are both clearly stars;)

3.) And this last little story I’m going to tell is probably going to go down in history as one of my favorite wedding reception moments ever. I was under the impression that there was to be no garter or bouquet toss at the reception so when Meg suddenly sat down in a chair and Dan knelt before her I was surprised but got into position to capture it for them. He reaches underneath her dress and he doesn’t pull out a lacy garter but a bottle of Smirnoff Ice. Yes folks, devious little Meg totally iced her new husband on their wedding day. How deliciously evil is she?! For those of you who have no clue what I’m talking about you just need to go check out the link I’ve posted below for the urban dictionary which explains everything you need to know about the “icing” ritual. This is a tradition that my friends still love to pull out in Vegas but Meg has definitely taken the cake by pulling this stunt at her own wedding. And I love that Dan went along with it. Brilliant!

I could continue on and tell you all about how pretty the Colorado mountain scenery was (it was!), and how gorgeous Meg’s A & Be dress was with it pretty delicate lace (duh, just look at the photos!) and how it rained a little during the ceremony and a bunch of other great moments and details from the day, but I think I’ve rambled on long enough now. I think the photos will speak for themselves.
Enjoy:)

One of my favorites:)

Meg painted Dan and Dan painted Meg for their custom made bean bag toss game. I love this idea! So cute:)
