elcome to the journal for April O’Hare Photography! Here you’ll find all of my latest photographic outings with the couples, families, seniors and small businesses that I get to work with and make beautiful photographs for. You may also see a personal post here and there discussing my life or my travels with my teeny family of one husband and three cats! Sometimes I even write advice articles with tips to help make your photo experience better which you can check out under the “Educational” category.

Take your time and look around! Type in the place where you’ll be getting married in the search box to see if I’ve photographed there before. At the bottom of the page I’ve highlighted some of my favorite sessions and weddings from the past. Grab a drink and have fun going down the photo rabbit hole!

Saint Mary’s Catholic Church Greeley Ceremony | D-Barn Longmont Colorado Wedding

July 21, 2014

I’ve been wanting to share today’s wedding for a little while now because it takes place in my hometown of Longmont, Colorado. There is this old historical red barn off of Main Street called the Dickens Barn (aka D-Barn). I vaguely remember driving by it when I was growing up and I thought it had always been there. But really, it was moved to it’s present site in 1996 so that memory must not be as old as I thought;) It was built in 1916 and it was originally used as a dairy barn. Nowadays it hosts weddings, parties, and meetings. They’ve added a ton of pretty twinkle lights to the ceiling which look so pretty in the background of the photos. And I also love the huge wood deck out front. Before arriving at the D-Barn we stopped in at one of my old favorite places in Longmont, Old Mill Park. Old Mill Park is located in a quiet old neighborhood in Longmont off of Pratt Street. It’s this adorable little park with old rustic buildings tucked away in what appears to be a gigantic backyard but is actually open to the public. We stopped in there to get some nice outdoor formals before heading on to the reception.

Katelynn & Jake live in Greeley and before the reception in Longmont they got married at their church, St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Before the ceremony started Katelynn prepped for the big day with all of her girlfriends in a huge room at the Greeley Guest House. She really did a great job planning all of the details for her wedding as you’ll see in the photos. One of my favorite details was the printed programs that she had an etsy designer create. It was full of little facts about the wedding like “10 trips to Men’s Wearhouse in Ft. Collins” and “32 hours of Pinterest-ing” and my favorite “378 phone calls to mom.” I love that planning a wedding in this day and age is still such a great way to spend family time together!

My favorite!
